Clearview Treatment Programs, a premier treatment center for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in Los Angeles, is presenting “DBT Skills: An Experiential Workshop” on Friday, July 29, 2011.
The workshop will provide participants practical knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a method of treatment specifically developed to treat BPD, and its clinical application. After a general introduction to DBT, participants will break into small groups to experience the four DBT skills: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.
“For therapists working with dysregulated clients, DBT provides powerful tools to assist them with cognitive, emotional, and behavioral change,” said Michael Roy, MSW, founder and executive director of Clearview Treatment Programs and Clearview Women’s Center for Borderline Personality and Emotional Disorders.
Featured speakers at the DBT skills workshop include members of Clearview’s clinical team: Alina Gorgorian, Ph.D.; Nicole Riddle, Psy.D.; Nicole Zaha, Psy.D.; and Susan Guillou, MFT. Clearview’s team of DBT therapists has been intensively trained by Behavioral Tech, Marsha Linehan’s training institute, or UCLA Harbor Hospital’s DBT training program.
What Past Attendees Had to Say
The upcoming DBT skills workshop is the second held by Clearview Treatment Programs. The first workshop, held in May 2011, was such a success that more workshops were requested.
Below is just some of the feedback provided by past attendees:
- “This was an excellent workshop demonstrating a very important and powerful technique.”
- “Thank you very much for a great experience. All of my goals were achieved and beyond.”
- “This was a wonderfully organized workshop. Providing the notebook, and the experience, and the overview of a DBT program has given me a better idea of how DBT should be done.”
