Menu-Coureys Create Borderline Personality Disorder Walk in Memory of Daughter

On Sunday, May 26, the first-ever “Borderline Walk” will take place on the boardwalk overlooking Lake Ontario in Toronto to help raise awareness about Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

The Borderline Walk was created by Lynn Courey and Mike Menu in honor of their daughter, Sasha, who they lost to a Borderline Personality Disorder-related suicide in 2011.

“The Borderline Walk is an important step to raise awareness, eliminate stigma, and increase much needed funds to support research and treatment of BPD,” said Dr. Shelley McMain, head of the Borderline Personality Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. “Lynn Courey and Mike Menu and the Sashbear Foundation are leading the way by rallying community support for those with BPD who struggle to find adequate care and resources.”

The Sashbear Foundation was created by the Menu-Coureys to raise awareness about Borderline Personality Disorder and increase access to BPD treatment for those who need it. You can read more about the Sashbear Foundation and Sasha’s story here.

The Borderline Walk is sponsored by Herzing College, located in Toronto Eaton Centre, and supported by CAMH.

Sunday’s 5k will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. For more information on the walk, or to make a donation to the Sashbear Foundation, visit www.sashbear.org.
